Dr. Jeremy Cook is currently an attending podiatric surgeon and director of research for the Podiatric Surgery division at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is a board member for the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Jeremy Cook has held an appointment as a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Harvard Medical School since 2007.
Dr. Jeremy Cook treats a variety of foot and ankle conditions including heel pain, bunions, and ankle sprains. Although Dr. Cook has training and experience with the most advanced surgical techniques, he advocates non-surgical solutions when patients need them. He can provide custom orthotics that optimize function and minimize pain. His surgical expertise includes minimally invasive techniques such as arthroscopic procedures and limited incision deformity correction. These methods minimize scarring and promote early functional return. His skill set includes surgical and non-surgical management of acute and chronic sports related injuries. He is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also board certified in Public Health by the American Public Health Association. Dr. Cook is a nationally regarded lecturer particularly with regards to evidence based medicine in podiatric treatments. His presentations have included topics such as joint replacement, heel pain, and bunion correction, just to name a few. He has even instructed foreign surgeons on tendon repair and modification internationally.
Dr. Jeremy Cook obtained his doctorate from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. His post-graduate education spanned a five year period that included residency and fellowship training. His residency training occurred at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon completion, he pursued specialized training in complex deformity correction through the Harvard Podiatric Reconstruction and Research Fellowship at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Joslin Diabetes Center, both affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Throughout this time he attended countless seminars and conferences on cutting edge and emerging techniques. Dr. Jeremy Cook has obtained advanced training in complex deformity management and traumatic care throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Dr. Jeremy Cook believes that the purpose of clinical research is to find the best care for every patient. As a result, his primary research interests relate to optimizing patient outcomes for common foot disorders. He has published more than a dozen articles in peer-reviewed literature and written several chapters on a variety of topics spanning the continuum of foot and ankle conditions. This includes elective surgery in high risk patients, artificial skin in wound healing, and complex deformity management. He uses these experiences to identify the best treatments and provide patients with exceptional care.
